There is something so special about visiting Disneyland Park during the Christmas season! From the minute you step onto Main Street, U.S.A., and see all of the beautiful decorations and Christmas tree, it’s hard not to get caught up in the holiday spirit. Add in the seasonal attraction overlays, an amazing Christmas parade, magical fireworks, and all of the Disney characters dressed in their holiday best, and it’s basically a recipe for the most wonderful way to celebrate the season!
If you’re planning a Disneyland vacation during the holidays, here are the special experiences you’ll want to know about as you plan your visit!
Disneyland is beautiful all year long, but the holiday decorations truly make it all the more magical! As soon as you begin your walk down Main Street, U.S.A., you’ll see festive garlands, wreaths, lights, and charming holiday displays throughout the area.

Of course, one of the biggest highlights is the iconic Christmas tree in Town Square. Standing at 60 feet tall and covered in thousands of lights and ornaments, it’s the perfect backdrop for holiday photos!

And you won’t want to miss seeing Sleeping Beauty Castle decorated for the season! During the holidays, the castle is adorned with icicle lights, ornaments, and other little touches that give it the appearance of being snow-covered. Each evening, you can also catch Wintertime Enchantment, a show where you’ll see the lights on the the castle turn on in stages while music plays and “snow” falls.

You’ll also find holiday decorations all throughout the park, including New Orleans Square, Frontierland, and Mickey’s Toontown. And be sure to keep an eye out for Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and other Disney characters in Town Square, too, dressed in holiday outfits!

It isn’t a trip to Disneyland without experiencing a parade down Main Street – and if you happen to be visiting during the holidays, you’ll definitely want to make time for A Christmas Fantasy Parade!
This holiday take on Disneyland’s classic parade features colorful floats, toy soldiers, dancing gingerbread cookies and reindeer, lots of fun holiday music…and, of course, many favorite Disney characters! You’ll see Mickey and Minnie, Chip and Dale, Anna, Elsa and Olaf, Buzz Lightyear, Woody and Jessie, and Disney Princesses. And Santa Claus makes a special appearance at the end of the parade, too!
A planning tip: Be sure to check the Disneyland app for parade dates and showtimes before your visit. The parade may not run every day, and you’ll want to give yourself plenty of time to find a viewing spot. Main Street, U.S.A., is a popular choice, but there are also great viewing areas near “it’s a small world” and the Matterhorn Bobsleds.

Nothing rounds out a Disney day quite like a fireworks show to wrap up your night, and if you’re spending an evening at Disneyland during the holidays, you can do just that with the “Believe…In Holiday Magic” fireworks show!
During this seasonal nighttime spectacular, you’ll enjoy holiday-themed fireworks set to a soundtrack of Christmas music, with Sleeping Beauty Castle illuminated by its icicle lights serving as the backdrop. And one of the best parts is that during the show, “snow” also falls in designated areas around the park, including parts of Main Street, U.S.A., near “it’s a small world” Holiday, and around the Rivers of America. It’s a really nice touch that makes the evening feel even more memorable!
A planning tip: Check the entertainment schedule in the Disneyland app for fireworks dates and times. Fireworks and other outdoor entertainment can occasionally be affected by the weather, so it’s a good idea to keep your plans flexible.

One of the neatest parts about visiting Disney parks during the holidays is seeing how some popular attractions get spruced up with limited-time overlays! At Disneyland, one of those attractions is Haunted Mansion Holiday, and if you’re a fan of Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, you’ll definitely want to experience it!
Each year, Jack Skellington, Sally, Oogie Boogie, and other characters from Halloween Town take over the Haunted Mansion for their own version of a Christmas celebration. The attraction gets a new soundtrack, narration, and scenes inspired by the movie, and even the exterior and queue of the mansion are decorated for the occasion. And don’t forget to look for the elaborate gingerbread house in the ballroom scene! A new design is created each year, which is a fun detail to look for when you ride.

Another attraction at Disneyland Park that gets some special holiday love is “it’s a small world”. Affectionately nicknamed “The Happiest Cruise That Ever Sailed,” this classic boat ride gets its own seasonal overlay with holiday decorations and Christmas music interspersed with its namesake song.
The exterior of the attraction is also decorated with thousands of lights, and the clockface even gets a Santa hat! If you’re looking for a beautiful spot to take holiday photos during your trip, make sure to stop by after dark when the facade is all lit up.

Of course, it wouldn’t be Christmas without a visit to see Santa Claus! You can find Santa inside Mickey’s Toontown Trolley Barn, near Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin. It’s a great opportunity for little ones to share their Christmas wish list and take some pictures with him. Be sure to check the Disneyland app for his appearance times during your trip!

If you’d like to add a unique experience to your holiday visit, you might want to consider the Holiday Time at the Disneyland Resort Guided Tour.
